  15. <p>     DIED. Bob Crosby, 79, swing bandleader. In the late '30s and
  16. early '40s, Crosby's "Bobcats" offered souped-up arrangements of
  17. New Orleans jazz that became known as Dixieland Swing. The
  18. distinctive two-beat sound propelled hits like Big Noise from
  19. Winnetka. Jazz bible Down Beat magazine dubbed the Bobcats "the
  20. most interesting band in America."
